Greetings. My car is currently at vw for the shudder. They are unable to replicate the problem.

The shudder only happens when it is hot, in traffic and if the vehicle is under load in 1st or reverse. The hotter the temperature outside and the more you are in traffic - the worse it gets. Again- only from stand still and in first or reverse.

You can drive to jhb and it Will be fine. But hit the traffic and it shudders all over the place and very difficult to pull off. But when it's cold, it behaves itself like there's no problem at all- and I seem like the crazy one.

It's a 2015 tdi manual.

Any suggestions?

Change the DMF and clutch.

My Caddy did the same and a few months afterwards it left me stranded in Durban due to total clutch failure.

Vw are replacing the clutch and flywheel only. But not under warranty. Even though the techy drove with me and could feel the shudder - they cant see anything wrong with the clutch or flywheel. The pressure plate is out of balance.

This issue only happens then the metal in the clutch or flywheel is hot from use. I will try and ask that they do it all, as the extended warranty might cover the items.

Had exactly the same with my wifes Tiguan, VW replaced the clutch under plan, Problem solved.
I had some pics of the clutch somewhere, Looked like normal wear, Couple small hot spots but nothing that showed abuse. Seems normal on these cars

Flywheel = DMF (dual mass flywheel) pressure plate will very rarely cause an issue and I seriously doubt they will do a friction plate only.
So whatever they are changing will most likely fix the issue.

My 2012 Tiguan started of doing the same, took it back to the dealer and the drove it and felt it. Clutch started to shudder and the BOOM no clutch at all.

Select 1st gear drop the clutch and the garden snail came past me and laughed me off..

If you can afford it, do the entire clutch.
