You get the liqui moly and service at 15k intervals, There is no benefit to short service intervals if you use low sulpher diesel (50 or less) and use a good oil.

Not as far as I can see...

In 2004 the most common Diesel found was 3000ppm for this the interval was set at 7500km oil changes. Then when 3000ppm were no longer available and 500ppm were the order of the day the inteval was changed to 15000km.

Yeah I might have it confused and you might be right , I do recall seeing a 7500km oil service for the diesel's in the book but not 100s sure the ppm. Came across it when checking for my GTI ,same book , will check this evening when I get home and report back , just for future reference.

Also depends on software, a car that overfuels cos of a more aggressive map will contaminate the oil faster.
It is an ingenius solution to a problem that should have never existed in the 1st place...

So last night I checked my cars book and could only find the below two bits of information :type:

From the way I see it, VW set our SA models Service indicators at 15000km service intervals, This was back in the mid 2000's when these cars were introduced and 50ppm was still entering the SA market, where 500ppm was widely available already. They had to have taken into account that most people would be using 500ppm at the time and worked out that 15000km as a service interval would be safe.

So I now actually agree with panic-mechanic that 15000km service intervals are fine just use a good oil and 50ppm or lower.

But...

I also agree with MarshallGTi that if the car is modded and running software the oil may get contaminated a bit sooner and therefore a slightly shorter service interval may be beneficial.

This is just the way I see it and my 2c, please correct me if I'm wrong :fear:

Good day
I'm still in the dark, what is 505.01 spec? e.g.10w30, etc.
I currently have Shell Helix 5w40 fully synthetic in my 1.6 TDI, does this oil fall within the 505.01 specs?

Tswerie, you are confused becuase you are trying to link the viscocity to the spec which it isn't . You can get different viscocities that will satisfy the same spec. It is really easy to see if thenoil satisfies the spec. It is printed on the bottle. If it says complies to standard 505.01 then it does.

Anyone know this oil bizol 5w30?

It's on takelot for R360 for 5L

It's more German certified than almost anything I found and the price is pretty good

And I guess 507.00 superseded 505.00

Rather just grab a castrol for that price, it's what vw uses anyways.

From what I know, 507.00 supercedes 505.00, and not 505.01.
