mk4 egr block off

Post by Cass »

HI all

Perhaps some can share some expierance.

I would like to block off the egr. i just re installed new turbo and cleaned the egr and intake. so instead of using blank off plates and removing the pipe connecting the turbo mani and the egr , i would rather prefer to blank off the vacuum hose leading to egr valve.

would it be ok to do so?

This would mean the ASV would operate as normal , but the egr wont open , due to no vacuum , preventing soot buildup in my clean intake?

Thanks

Some cars throw a fault code when the egr is disconnected, a remap fixes that.

The egr and asv housings eventually start to Leak - which is pretty much a boost leak

I prefer the blanking plates and yes you can also remove the vacuum hose. Makes it easier to reinstall the turbo anyway. One less pipe to fiddle with.

Can you suggest anywhere specific? I'm not far from Strijdom Park or Kya Sands.

How thick were the plates? 3mm or 5mm?
