You can use a file hosting site like Imgur etc, or use the tappatalk app on your phone.

Ok, I have tried Tapatalk, but when I upload from my phone it says invalid request. Does it have to be in a certain format?

old school mk1 tdi

Post by DieterMK5 »

Epic stuff.

I had a Mk4 tdi ahf engine code. I can definitely see the resemblance from my old bay to this.

Word of advise, keep that diesel pump happy, it’s exponentially expensive to replace.

Correct about the diesel pump. I went and priced at Bosch just for interest sake. Lets just say, it would be more economical to buy another import motor.

On the left just behind of the window wash bottle is where I installed the electrical fuel pump. Never replaced in 15 years.

Ok, I also have to mention. When you buy these import motors, it seems they come standard with a power steering pump and aircon pump. I removed these, and then had to fabricate a support bracket for the alternator. Originally the adjusting bracket for the alternator was fixed to the cradle of the aircon pump. Not a biggie though. Also, if you get the turbo motor no need to modify the top part of the firewall. You will however need to mount a loose standing airbox. Don`t go for a pancake type filter. Last I checked the turbo motors came without the airbox. May be wrong.

The other common motor to use is an AAZ 1.9.

Straight swap, some wiring, exhaust, good to go.

I would imagine you would want to use a diesel box with the longer ratios, but ive been wrong before!
