Polo 9N TDI (96KW) clutch

Post by casperjjordaan »

Hi guys

I need help. My cars clutch is starting to slip. I will have to start looking at a new one. I went to Midas, the Quotation is R17 000.00 for a clutch kit. I don't have that kind of money. What are my options here?

Thank you!

I phoned LMB now, wow, I am struggling to hear the guy he speaks with a heavy ascend. Can you tell me, the LMB clutch does it replace the flywheel aswell, and what about the dual-mass system, is that then replaced?

Is it a hell of a job to get done?

The lmb consists of a single mass flywheel, clutch and pressure plate and concentric cylinder.

Yes it is, removing that box is a nightmare and it's heavy as hell.

I have a spare kit if u interested whatsapp me 074 221 6363

Go for the LMB single mass unit, most of the big power TDi guys use that. Also get in touch with Adrian @TPH for fitment, he can supply and fit and does excellent work
It is an ingenius solution to a problem that should have never existed in the 1st place...

I also have the LMB SMF kit in my car. Very happy with the result! :hurray:

I just did not have the time yet to write about my DIY experience :fear:

A slight amount of chatter sometimes on idle in neutral but nothing too distracting

Speaking about the 5 speed transmission though... but hands down for me better than the DMF.

Everyone with a 6 speed transmission complain about the noise :fear: :deadhorse:

I would have liked to get a heavier flywheel and also the clutch plate from an Mk3 tdi that was sold in the UK with a SMF stock from the factory.

It seems that the clutch plate had some heavier springs to damp chatter. The only option will be to import those parts if the current clutch plate fails.

Only issue with the lmd is when you want to attend to a sump oil leak. Not able to get to the 2 bolts located on the gearbox side.
