Hehehe, yeah very nice. Can't afford it though.

Update: So while in CPT this week I tested a 2009 V10, 160k on the clock. Owner says VW says starter motor need to be replaced - car still drive fine. overall body and interior in good condition.

Like the fact that it has radio similar to G6.

cons:
It's black so harder to keep clean.
No wheel at the back - which I really like.
Price a bit high - esp given it will need some work.

So I think I will let this one go.

BTW what happened to the guy that started this post before we hijacked it?

Not even remotely. But you can go to vw's website, post a request on the mail thing there asking that question and they usually come back to you after a few days.

From a 3.0 V6 TDi? That is terrible consumption, my girlfriends Fortuner with the agricultural 3.0 D4-D gets way better than that.

Fuel consumption has been a concern of mine.
Fuelly gives a range of between 8.2 and 12.6

Not the biggest sample of vehicles but still not 16.6l/100km...

ANY biggish car with a biggish engine and an auto box (that will basically never get to lockup) that you drive for very short distances and almost never highway will give you bad consumption. So if you wife drives it for 7km every day in town only with a fair amount of traffic lights you will see bad consumption and is basically the wrong tool for that job if you are worried about consumption. Buy a small engined petrol runabout.

My wife is currently driving a Q7 3l tdi and she easily gets over 800 to around 990 km from a tank - mixed town and highway.
Going to kruger park and back with 4 people and full of baggage it averaged 8.9l/100km. It is basically the same drivetrain and engine as a touareg. I did strictly 120 km/h on speed control.

I agree with Panic, even a V6 in stop start is not going to give you a good consumption. Then again, if you really after fuel efficiency, a 1 litre Golf might be the way to go.

Finding a V10 is proving to be harder than anticipated. Literally can't find a single one from 2008 which is not black or silver.

Does anyone here have any experience with the Range Rover Autobiography 5 V8? How does it compare to the Touareg in terms of comfort, reliability and pulling power.

all good except reliability.
Colour has never stopped me from buying a specific second hand car if the rest of it is good.
I'll look around some more. also don't forget there is the T3 touareg with the 4.2 v8 tdi that makes even more power than the v10 did.

Update: some progress made - will be checking out a V10 this week (does not have the off-road package and the seats are grey) but otherwise looks decent. And then there is an R50 that looks awesome - if the owner can negotiate I might break the bank for it.

Will obviously have Panic check them out when he can before I pull the trigger. getting close

All the v10's came with low range. Ie there was no specific off road package as such. That stuff only came on the T3 ie 2011 or so onwards, by which time the v10 was already discontinued. The only 'option' ofrroad wise was a rear diferential lock and I have yet to find that usefull. They seem to do just fine without it. In certain situations I have actually made it worse by using it.
