MK4 1.9 tdi Belt Tensioner Assembly

Post by Papa TDI »

Hi All

On Monday afternoon whilst checking my level on Jetta MK4 1.9 TDI i discovered that the Poly Vbelt tensioner assembly was broken not sure how & when although an assumption would be put and between last Wednesday and Monday as Wednsesday i had top up my oil.So the protruding stick that is attached to the assembly was leaning forward against & was touching the rotating Vbelt so it was creating a tiny like grinding sound so my mech said my alternator pulley has seized so since it was crating vibration it has added on the tensioner assembly cracking & breaking so he has removed it although the car runs fine however not sure as how long it will run without the complete assembly.

Hi Bud

I have had 3 of them brake on me on 2 diff cars.
I just left it like that. It's the damper on the tensioner.
