Meyle water pump quality

Post by Dubaholic69 »

Hi all members, :hi:

I hope I posted in the right section.

I bought a MEYLE water pump for my Polo 1.9 tdi from Goldwagen, but a few searches on Google doesn't really give good feedback on the quality of these pumps.

Does anyone on here perhaps use one of them or have more information for me regarding the quality?

I really don't want to do the timing kit etc and a few months down the line have trouble with the water pump.

Thanks in advance

It seems like i have had bad lucky a with meyle water pump...installed on in my 1.9tdi, installation was quite simple, started the engine and bleed the water through the system, the water pump was working well, took my car for a test ride. my car was running perfect for about 20kms. then the pulley on the water pump shattered  at the end of the day it caused damage to my engine, bent some valves.

Thats not nice, i've Never seen that happen before.... have you tried calling the supplier and informing them? could it have been a bad batch?

I've used loads of meyle parts in the past on different cars (suspension bits, brakes, sensors, filters, bushes and mountings and never had an issue with quality.

Bought it form goldwagen, they tried to blame me for installing the belt skew, they shipped it off to meyle themselves, since then i have been emailing meyle directly. they say that the pulley could have and an issue in the casting.

Unless you can conclusively prove that the damage was directly caused by their part failure, They really have no reason to reimburse you

Anyway, I've used Meyle parts in most of my previous cars, Never had issues

If u lucky, the only thing they would give u is a new waterpump.
When the talk of reimbursing comes, even though their part had a casting problem, Their reason will be "this should be fitted on by a trained professional".

Thats on most, if not all, terms and conditions of parts.

I had once seen a chinese waterpump were the aluminium casted impeller wasnt "even", it would turn 180degrees then catch on the housing. If i havnt noticed this and fitted it onto the vehicle, it wouldnt be the problem of the person who bought the pump (the owner), the parts shop, or the manufacturer. It would be my problem because i didnt look at the part properly before installing.
So be careful of getting into that situation because as the guys stated, its always ur fault and never theirs..
