Have a quick question, how much more different compared to ratios is the 5 speed box from the Seat 1.9tdi and the polo 1.9tdi. ?

not much at all. They could even be identical.

So should be a direct fit then.

Not sure we ever got a Seat Ibiza 1.9TDI with a 5sp gearbox...

Ibiza FR was 96kw 6sp
Ibiza Cupra was 118kw 6sp

Reason why im asking is that my current gearbox on my Polo decided to give in, so i managed to get Seat gearbox 5sp.

so just want to know if there will be any differences on the box it self. I haven't driven the car as yet with the new box, but from what my mech told me is that the box feels a bit different.

unless you have the gearbox code or has opened it it is hard to say if they have different ratios. Feel different can mean a gazillion things and is subject to human emotion.

You probably got a 5 speed box from the Ibiza Cupra 1.8t 20v.
If you had a 5 speed tdi box then this 5 speed petrol box ratios will be a lot shorter.
