Audi A4 b6 1.9tdi Won't start

Post by ArthurMbambo »

: :bang: :bang: :bang: :deadhorse: Hie guys new here . I recently bought an A4 b6 1.9tdi for a steal but seems i may have a lemon on my hands . Was told it had a blown turbo. It would not start when i towed it home and only did after i put in a new pickup pump but rhia was after considerable cranking and would not rev above 2k which i thought was turbo related.

So after replacing the seized turbo and doing the required flushing it just wont start at all. Please help.

Have you had the car scanned?

i once ran an output tests on the airbag module in vcds and because it had a fault that was not cleared it thought the vehicle was in an accident and sent a command to "shut down the engine"
car would not start after that, it needed to be cleared but before i figured that out i just locked the car put key in drive door and lock and keep it in for 5 seconds.. that worked for me.. and car started

First I have ever hear of this happening, airbag faults are common on the MkIV Golf/Jetta and B6 A4 platforms, related to faulty wiring under one or both of the front seats. My B6 A4 suffered from the issue even after having the harnesses replaced by Audi but the car was always driveable.

mine was / is always drive-able with the warning light on, only was not drive-able when i ran the output test on the airbag module, it even gives a warning before running the output test that it may render the car undrive-able.

mine is related to the passenger seat, i found the correct position where the warning would not come on, but eventually after clearing errors so many time the controller now has a fault and the airbag error cannot be cleared.

but i know for a fact the controller is working as i can go into it and check for faults and check each airbag status voltages etc.. I can also change the coding, a faulty controller wont let coding be changed

so just gonna live with the light on..

i did find another post in the uk where the guy kept clearing the fault and eventually the controller did what mine did.

i should have just put in a molex connector for the loose wires under the passenger seat and problem fixed

Aaah, so the output test caused the major issue, thanks for clearing that up.

Hey folks
I think I am in deep trouble here, hopefully not

I went to take my Polo ASZ 1.9tdi for a dyno tune at Goch & Cooper in Brackenfell.
Results were poor for the modifications done already (K&N air filter, de-cat and EGR-delete), 88kW !
They said my injectors are faulty (over fuelling) and need to be checked, the reason for the low power they said.
Could faulty injectors prevent them from tuning it properly?

Are my injectors busy going?
Where can I buy them or should I just get them serviced?

I know they are frikken expensive.

Thanks

I am sure there are guys on here that can scan the car for you for a minimal fee.

I presume it is a PD130 engine? Was the reading at the wheels or at the flywheel? What was the reading before?

do you have any signs of them being faulty
bad comsumption, white / blue smoke?
you can try some injector cleaner, best to run straight from filter or can run in tank
some would recommend using 2SO in the diesel (i wont)
but from my research and thinking i have found that sasol 10ppm has the least lubricity it has an HFRR wear scar of 460 other 50ppm diesels have an HFRR wear rating on 400, the lower the better. 460 is like the max allowable
so sasol 10ppm having a higher wear rating should clean the injectors out over a few tanks..
just my thinking something to try for free...
then go back to whatever you like filling
thats if you not using sasol already

Car is not smoking

The dyno tuner said there are 2 faulty injectors.

So, I am going to get them checked by the Bosch specialists for R1000.
They will give me a full report on them and make further suggestions.

I poured a bottle of Rislone diesel injector cleaner today, hope it helps.

What is better? 50ppm or 500ppm fuel?

Any fuel station in the Cape who sell 10ppm?
Only Gauteng seem to have.
