TDi Service Advice

Post by RollTheDice »

Hwzt Guys

I've sent my 2014 VW Cross Polo to the agent for its 90000km service. I received a call and was informed by my service adviser that the oil service including changing the cam belt and water pump was in excess of R10000. Does anyone have any recommendations on anywhere else I can get this done in Durban?

Check the service manual as well as with your dealership, VWSA has a habit of changing service intervals on certain items.

+1 on no service plan?

cam-belt is inspected at 90k service and after, so again at 105k then must be replaced at 120k

Standard VWSA service plans end at 60k km's? And Polo's don't come with them standard do they?

The issue with these things is that should you not change at 90k and it snaps and causes damage you have no warranty to cover you.
10K is less than the cost of the damage a snapped belt may cost

I know that, but what is the scheduled km for this change? Warranty will only cover manufacture defect, which can easily be spun into a wear and tear issue. Also you can inspect the belt for condition and decide on earlier based on that. All my cars and my brothers TDi (belt/pump was done at 120k km)

i Change them at 90k. Not worth the risk to try and stretch the interval.

Rather change it and be safe plus peace of mind.
