All good bru and you?

I have a friend who has owned one of these polos for about 5 years with no problems. Very economical as well. If I am not mistaken its the same motor as in my car. I get around 6.8l/100km in start stop traffic. On the freeway it drops to about 5.4l/100km at 140km/h.

In currently avg 8.7

Which I find high
But can get 800km off a tank. So kinda stumped

I sent the car in for the diesel knock to be sorted by the dealer who I bought the car from, who sent it to a rmi apporoved workshop, which was not done correctly to be honest.

Having a buddy do a full diag run on the car this week hopefully

I've got one in Cross Polo form and get around 5.4l/100 Combined (sitting in traffic after work and then cruising the last half of the trip).
I've noticed when cold it uses a lot more fuel (avg. 7l - 9l/100), and it takes about 10-15mins to warm up so might not see much economy if your trips are short.

On long trips I get around 1100km per tank...normal driving around 800.

Blert, that's quite high. Even when I hammer my car I don't go that high. Run the diagnostics and take it from there.

I struggle to understand that people think that becuase a workshop carries RMI status that it is going to do work right or is an expert in every single car out there.
RMI approval really only means that they run a c lean shop, display their warning signs right, has serviced fire extinguishers and that their mechanics has some sort of N(x) qualification. that they pay their tax and operate a decent accounting system and that they have basic tools.
There is no specification in that accreditation that says that they have expert knowledge on your 1.6 TDI vw.

I have a 2011 1.6TDi, Travel about 90kms per day between Sunning hill and PTA fuel avg..6.4l/100kms but I don't drive very economically ;). I did once get over 1000kms on a fully tank on the same route.

Ive done 30k kms in past year... Replaced gear link cable besides normal oil/ oil filter change every 10k kms. Current Mileage 180 xxxkms. Been very reliable.

Only Querk I have is the diesel knock on low revs between 1000 to 2000 rpm...When I purchased it I wasn't happy, dealer replaced 2 injectors but was still noisy, Ive listen to a few of these motors and it seems to be a common thing, Like I have said I have done 30 000kms and no issues so I learned to live with it.

Hope this info helps.

Yup gives me an indication of what it should be and confirms my doubts about the injectors being "reconditioned"

You cannot recondition those injectors. At best he installed good second hand ones. Trust me I have been over this thing time and again. There is not a single shop in SA capable of reconning those despite many advertising it. There is one shop in Romania that does.
