Polo 1.9TDi cold start fast idle issue

Post by Shivbeanz »

Hi guys,

For as long as I can remember, when cold starting my car, the car would idle at +-1000rpm and then drop to 800rpm after a few minutes of idling or blipping the throttle.
Recently when cold starting, the car immediately idles at 800rpm. I changed the thermostat a few months ago as the temp gauge on the dash never reached 90, changing the thermostat solved that.
Just wondering if this is a major issue and if anyone else has experienced this?
Other than this the car feels normal, just annoying my OCD as I know it used to do this "fast idle" before.
Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

Not an issue. Don't lose sleep about it. When it's really winter the fast idle will be back.
