Injector issues

Post by GremlinCCS »

Hi guys.

Having some new issues with my injectors.
Cylinder 2&3 comes out as errors and well the cars undrivable now.

It started slowly, only giving issues when starting the motor. Get some speed, switch of the car and do a running start and no issues at all. But it got worse very quickly and now only last 20sec and then it's over, undrivable.

So where to next,

New ones? Bit expensive but where would be the best to look for a reasonable price?

Recon? Where's the best place in pta or jhb?

Second hand? Scared of having the the same issues.

Sorry. BKD 2l TDI.

Not scanned. Ordered a cable awhile ago but still waiting for it.

Getting a cylinder contribution error on 2 & 3 over Obdii

Had same sort of issue before on cylinder 1, changed the injector and it were fixed.

Pretty sure it's the injectors. Don't know why they pack up like this but also don't know the history of the motor.

Yup. Go visit northern diesel in silverton. They can test and refurbish them.
Can be broken wiring loom - common on the pd motors. Does not mean it HAS to be the injector faulty.

I don't have recommended cleaning tips but saw a video on you tube of a gay that cleaned his injectors in brake fluid or some sort of solution he made up, you need something to get rid of the soot and carbon on them.

Thanx panic I'll contact them.

I redone the wiring loom and are 100% sure that's fine... 100% better with wiring than the mechanics. Image

I know it's not a fact that it's the injectors but that's the strongest idea at this point. And as I said same simptom's as last time and another injector sorted it out. But that injector were free...

If I need to spend money I'll rather pay for recon than secondhand were you don't know what you get.

Not that dirty only have some discoloration on them but they a fairly clean by the eyes. Sure it could be inside.... But not sure that guys way will really clean the insides. I think I watched his video the previous time.

Gay or not you can't fix a worn injector by soaking it in any kind of solution. this is something you want pro's with the right tools to sort out

Injectors are back and fitted.

It was a hefty price and long wait but over all I'm very happy.
When contacted Northern diesel injection the lady did say its one day to repair but in the end of the day it were almost two weeks. A bit of an issue as my arrangements were made for four days, counting in one day to remove and take in, one day for repairs and one day to pick up and reinstall. One day extra for in case... Well that one day were not enough.

But got them back and they look like New.
Alot of work to get them in again as they requested that I clean the fuel tank, fuel lines, filter, replace filter with OEM, clean high pressure pump and the input pipe going down the head. Not that easy but did what I could but added another day to the repair time. New bolts for all the injectors.

Adjusted injector clearance as requested and we are done. Close up and ready to start. With some cranking with jumper cables we got it started but something are wrong.... It's not evening out, there's a miss.? After clearing error codes and check again I have a cylinder 1 contribution error... That's fimiliar, grabbed my spare injector I have, swop number 1 and all are fine. Engine are no so quite and so smooth...

So injector needs to go back to see why it's not working, maybe I broke it.... Maybe something just went wrong, will have to wait and see.

I'm running abit rich now so it looks some adjustments on the ECU are required again as the AFR his down to 14.8 under power....
