Polo Sportline Automatic Lock

Post by CoalWorld23 »

Hi Guys,

i seem to be experiencing some issues with my central locking.
car locks and unlocks fine using the transponder key.

however, when the automatic safety lock thing activates at around 15km/h, the driver side locks but the passenger side locks and then unlocks and will only lock once i've used the lock/unlock button on the driver's side door.

can someone please shed some light on whats going on and how to solve?

Also looking for someone reputable to do the hoodlining.

I'm in Durbs

Common issue on these cars. My brother's XPolo has the same on the rear passenger door. Most likely a dry joint or similar. Sometimes when hot weather is does not do it. Microswitch in door.

i've spoken to a guy.
he said i must replace the whole locking mechanism.
which i don't think is necessary as when i lock with the transponder key, the vehicle opens and unlocks fine.
its only when the automatic lock activates at 15km/h does the doors lock and only the passenger then unlocks.
so confused :bang:

It is one of the terminals on the micro switch inside the locking mechanism and its a huge job to strip it all down. My 9n3 gti had the same issue I never attempted it because its basically stripping the door down and the lock itself to get to the terminal. Its very common and literally takes a resolder to fix it, 1 min to resolder a couple of hours to strip the door down.

From experience...it's best to just replace the whole lock with new or used. Scrap yards sell them around R300 - R500. Sometimes the fixes don't really last on these things.
