Car Problems

Post by TeddyLong »

:( Hi all,

I have a VW T5 Kombi 2.0Tdi 2010 model. The fan belt snapped and as a result it affected the cam belt which led to the repairing of the cylinder-head. After putting back the cylinder-head the car did not have power, we checked the compression and it was low. Then the engine block was replaced. The turbo was also refurbished but still the car does not go up to 3revs as the turbo does not kick in. What could it be? Please assist.

Depressed,
Thabo

Does it start easily? Any white/black/blue smoke?

Hi Curtis

I'll check the boost pipes, don't know what the sub assy is but I am sure it's not new.

It doesn't start easily, even after it starts the coil light flashes. It emits white smoke

Sub assembly is the block, pistons, crank, Oil pump and and....

Yeah you mentioned the block was replaced? What was wrong with the previous one?

Sounds like the cam timing is out.
Oh by the way - did you replace the cams. On These when the belt fails and the valves meets up with the pistons the cams get damaged. It basically turns the lobes on the centre of the cam. So you have to change the cams as step 1.
If you did not it could explain almost all the issues including the low compression
