What make is it. If it is forged you just need to check and measur bore to piston clearance and check with the manufacturer what their recommended clearance is.

Is it a after market turbo? If so put a 1.5mm oil restrictor on the oil feed line,
Make sure oil drain is open and big enough say not less
than 12mm ID.
Sump compression can cause the oil pushing pass the seal as it kind of block oil draining via drain pipe, get this on many cars with faulty pcv's specially the tdi's

after the events you had give it a day or two before starting to strip more stuff. There is most likely oil left from all that.

Remove the downpipe and check if the turbo is "wet", im sure u must have cleaned up whatever oil was in there from the turbo/engine rebuild. If theres no oil in there then ur exhaust silencer most likely has oil in it (if it does, remove exhaust and try draining out the oil)

Does the van give off alot of blue smoke?

Are u sure that its oil and not diesel?
Oil smoke is generally a bluish-grey (more blue though)
On the other hand, improperly "burnt" diesel is black, and "unburnt"/raw diesel is white.

Did u replace ur injector seals when u reconditioned the cylinder head? Im sure they have removed the injectors to get the cylinder head overhauled in the first place..

My previous motors turbo were at turbo clinic 3 times. Well they had the complete car as the previous owner swopped turbo with them just before I bought it,so under warranty it returned the first time as turbo lasted 10k km, second time after 20k km, and third time again after 20k km. The 4th time I decided screw them I'll do it myself, didn't trust them anymore.

Yes they repaired it everytime but it cost me a few thousands to get the car to them everytime, once broke just outside Harrysmith. Towing back so they can fix it once again cost me almost as much as a new turbo.

In the end that motors problem were found, oil pump were gone... As turbo specialist should they have picked it up?

But anyways, good luck. Hope you get it sorted.

With all my struggle with my turbo, all the research I done I only got to one reason why a good turbo will leak oil.

When your oil pressure are to high for the oil draining system. Couldn't find any indication of what's to high tho but need to check the oil drainage pipe and make sure it's not blocked.

If that's all fine it's the turbo.

What's concerning are you said a noise when you started. With that I'm sure it's the turbo.

Hi did a oil pressure test tonight start up cold 3.3 bars warm 1.2 bars. Does that sounds within spec? Gremlin yes new drain pipe fitted. Took the feed pipe of put a cut of 1/4 2 litre bottle under pipe to catch oil start the Van by the time I get to the front to check oil was already running out underneath the Van fast
I'm not sure if that's normal

Im not sure about the spec oil pressure, those numbers seem ok though will let some1 more experienced comment on that..

But thats the correct way the turbo/drain is working.
