Good Day
I am having a problem with my polo 6r steering lock , previously i could jump in swing the key and start. Now if i try to start the car the key doesnt turn all the way , i tried to wiggle the wheel around with no luck, If i pull the key out lock the steering put the key back in unlock it and then try to start it still doesnt work. after like 7 Minutes moving the wheel around and locking/unlocking it thereafter it will start. if i pull the key out i have to start the 7 minute procedure again.
i would like to know if my key is a problem , Steering or the barrel
Its very frustrating
any advise would be appreciated

Yep
It could be the key as well.
My father in Law has that same issue and we had to get a new made for it and it solved the issue.

Re: Steering Lock Problems on Polo 6R
Thanks for the responses gents i called VW at the spur of the moment and they wanted R5500 to fix it, i then asked what is the problem they say its the key barrel and housing. I then decided to purchase the housing and fit it at home to prevent me getting a new barrel and keys .
I Stripped the air bag and removed the wheel then cut off the shear bolts holding the housing.
Removed the ignition housing then swopped out the barrel to the new housing . had to try a few time with a pin to remove it
put back the ignition and secured with 2 new shear bolts, put back all other parts .
Car starts perfectly now.
Thanks Gents
