EGR 1.9TdI VW Caddy 2008

Sup gents

Hope u guys are well ,

I tried the search and found only buy a few comments on the subject line , please help .

I am trying to assist a buddy of mine and I am already lost now .
(I will try and explain as best as possible; don't shoot me down for incorrect terminology etc etc)

My braz caddy battles to start every morning . We have changed glow plugs and run the car on Diagnostics , error message came up EGR fault .

We took off EGR and cleaned it up and still it battles in the mornings .

Here is the weird part , this only happens to him mornings and not when the sun is out like during the day ....

We have tried this , parked car over night at work and came to work and started the caddy and it started one shot ....

But at home where he stays , it literally cries to start ....the mornings there are cold , but not that cold like a minus degree .....

I have exhausted all avenues ....any help would be appreciated....

Software is out of the question , we need to sort this out first before we can get into that ....

At home, does the van stand at an angle? Could be the low pressure in tank pump.
Do you hear the Squish sound when turning the ignition on?

I went to his caddy now , no sound of squish as compared to how loud mine is ....could it be that ???

I would certainly start there atleast... Might be something simple like a relay or fuse...

No Bru . We still battling .
Now he picked up a problem with the car smoking alot in the mornings .
First white smoke , then black, like alot ....then no smoke .
