White smoke on hard acceleration TDI ASZ

Post by Dunn »

Hi guys

been a while since i posted and enjoying the daily car.
Just some issue wanted some feedback on before getting worried.
my polo seems to give off a puff of white smoke under hard acceleration which then dissapears
Noticed it ever since i filled up at the Shell in Oakglen.
i am thinking it good be the diesel or "breather oil" or worst case turbo ?

there is no loss of power and car feels same as when i bought it.

any advice to steps to troubleshoot further would help i will also provide any feedback required on my side and will be posting results as well.

car has STG 1 STO and downpipe

Could be oil seals on the turbo that's on it's way out. How many km's do you have on the turbo, also, what's your milleage on the car

Murphys law, may not have anything to do with the fuel or possible they had contaminated diesel that poked your injectors, or the turbo is on the way out, but 80000km is recent, possible that the injector seals are poked

does it start first turn in the morning or when parked for a long time, if no! its the injector seals, it leaks thru, when driving a lot check your oil if its not very thin, cause is diesel leaking into oil via cylinder,

starts first time, it's my daily so only stands weekends.
I have filled up this morn with Engen 50ppm and a bottle Wynn's diesel injector cleaner.
Will see how it goes and provide some feedback

still gives a small puff under hard acceleration otherwise no smoke, will get it checked at next service and update here.
Even i am beginning to think this could be oil seals starting to go on turbo.
no other issues

What part of the exhaust has been removed? Removal of particulate filter could result in more soot being released. There could also be a bad batch of fuel. Try a different brand like Sasol 10ppm for a while and take it from there.

well after cambelt service he said he checked it out and with the service now , it's showing signs of camshaft/Lifter wear.
Then showed me a broken PD100 camshaft in the shop.I have a warranty plan on this car as it's my first diesel,:)
contacted them and they will cover, provided an assessor checks and they get some pics sent through.

Forgot I had this post here, but save people trouble in future. This was the oil seals in the turbo. I had them replaced but then later had the shaft break on exhaust side from overheating due to a block oil feeder pipe. Not nice finding bits of the blade in exhaust filled with oil. Could have been much worse.
