TDI going crazy!!!!!! cam crank cam sensor.Polo 2005

Post by Jakkels85 »

HI Guy's

Where to start, okay Feb 26 the car blew the first cam sensor, i replaced it with one from goldwagen car was running fine until the 28 March then it blew the cam and crank sensor, I replaced both with goldwagen sensors and drove for about 900km. Saturday we went to JHB randburg area car was running fine then when we wanted to leave the afternoon the car did int want to start so my first thought was cam sensor as i suspected unplugged it and broem it started. Drove to spring no hassle on sunday morning went for breakfast as we left the wimpy the hand brake light came on with the ABS light then the glow plug light i lost power steering so i switched the ignition off started it up again and everything was fine. That evening i drove back to rustenburg car was fine (cam sensor still faulty). Monday i went to Goldwagen again got a new sensor replace it but did int plugged it in............. on Monday night on my way home the car lights dimmed twice and then it started doing it again i switched off and started it again then i realized the clock inside the cluster was out km range was on 0 km. i have check the negative and positive and all the fuses on the battery. I took the car this morning to Bruno's in RTB guy phone me and told me every thing is fine he did a diagnostic no faults nothing i need to buy a original part cam (sensor)from VW. Please is one of you guy's have had a similar problems or so i will appreciated if any of you could give me advice on where to look.

The losing of the electrics and everything resetting to 0 is something I had on my TDi. My issue was the main earth strap from the battery. Cleaned the contact up and reattached it and it stopped doing this.

Hey guy's, Okay so i got the new sensor on friday last week from VW and replaced it so the Freeking car is doing the same. I striped my m@er and stripping the car checked all the wiring from the cam sensor plug to the ecu and loosen all the negatives and cleaned them checked all the plugs and sprayed the with electro cleaner as well. I have check the continuity on the wiring form the cam sensor plug to behind the plug and from their to the ecu unit no faults found. so i stared the engine without the cam sensor plugged in, when i plug it in the engine stall WHY??????? So after i striped half of the car phone a friend of mine he told me the timing can be out is this true.

Everytime a TDI goes electricrazy it is the earth strap on the battery.

Okay after speaking to a dozen of people and costing me a couple of bucks we got the FREAKING problem.
Timing was 100% but had to adjust the cam timing a bit on the cam pulley to get it to respond with the cam sensor. The error we got from the ecu was cam position sensor out of range when the timing is 100% on it mark so after a 2 hour friggiling with the thing back and four f we got the cam and ecu to connect and start as normal as any tdi should. I drove the car it pulls normal and drive like should.

Will give you guy's updates if their is any funny stuff going on again.

Cheers.
