I replied on your other thread regarding the stock turbo. On the replacement route I would suggest you buy a new Turbo and fit. You will need to flush the cooler and clean the boost pipes and also do a full oil service with sump service to ensure the oil pickup is not restricted.

If you are not very mechanical then I would suggest you have the car repaired by someone trustworthy.

Are you 100% sure they turbo is gone.

I had white/blue smoke pouring out the back of my car.

Turned out to be the engine breather pipe that was blocked.

I have 345 000 on my car with 45 000 on software and she is still boosting strong.

The hard part is removing the turbo.

Once it is out you can check for play on the shaft. In your case you can open the clamps that hold the cold side to the hot side and have a look at the CHRA.

I know that the CHRA is available aftermarket , just not sure who are the best people to buy from.

You don't want to end up with a chineses POS that grenades in 3 months.

Gaby at Fastec can rebuild and cost depends on damage.

You could buy a new turbo but the exhaust and compressor housings rarely get damaged , so in essence you are buying a new turbo for the CHRA anyway.

I suppose the warranties and the fact that is balanced should count for something.

I would do it just to be safe. On an old oem turbo system with that kind of mileage I would. You should have seen the kink in my return pipe after a turbo pop.
maybe it was just my car that was angry! heheh - Also who knows what deposits have built up in the feed over the years?

Hi we have had a recon turbo fitted and there is still no boost power. Checked the turbo and it was tested twice and found to be in full working order. Any suggestions on a 1.9 tdi GOLF ?

1.9 tdi's have been available since 1999 or thereabouts. There are at least 3-4 different variations of the engines and all with differing methods of boost regulation So just popping into an old thread with no spec of which vehicle you are talking it is impossible to even begin to answer.
But the most obvious - have you checked all the boost pipes. what else did you remove when you took the turbo off.
