And the other manufacturers are also required to reduce the PPM in the diesel, BP already runs a 30PPM at most filling stations around Gauteng, soon to be rolled out country wide, Engen is also not far behind apparently.
If you want the most out, put the best in!

Only used 50ppm so far in the Amarok, dealer just advised to stay away from 500ppm if possible

Did the dealer say why?OOBA wrote:Only used 50ppm so far in the Amarok, dealer just advised to stay away from 500ppm if possible
500ppm has higher sulphur so it shortens the life of the engine oil and it can kill DPF's.
Other than that 500ppm isn't a bad fuel. My engine oil stays golden for 6000km after a change and I use 500ppm 99% of the time.
However, I still change the oil every 10'000km and I have no sensors or other crap in my exhaust.

Oil still golden after 6000km? That doesn't sound right at all. Oils should go black, as the detergents work to keep soot and sludge in suspension. What oil do you use? I wonder whether it has any detergents.

It goes black after a while. But if an engine runs well and blowby is minimal, why should it go black quickly?VAG Fan wrote:Oil still golden after 6000km? That doesn't sound right at all. I have sinced moved to either fuchs titan gt1 or havoline ultra s - depending on availability and price. HX7 AV has become very expensive and scarce.
PS : I also run 2so religiously added to my diesel. I have seen over many years how it keeps engines clear of carbon on the glow plugs, injectors, pistons and turbo vanes. The added benefit of lube is also a plus point.

Random question - Where do you buy Fuchs Titan GT1 from? I'm struggling to find a supplier.4ePikanini wrote:It goes black after a while.
