Speedo drops, ABS, Powersteering and management light flashs
The following problem comes up sporadically:
My ABS light, Power steering light, management light, and warning light comes up coupled with the speedo dropping to 0km/h.
When turning off the car and starting it again, it goes away and returns...whenever.
I took it for a VAG and the following fault was picked up: 00597 Differing wheel speed impulse. Value of resistance too great.
I assume it's the speed sensor...the problem: where.
I don't really know what to do and how to go about fixing it. If I can pin-point which wheel it is, I can obviously help the cause.
any ideas?
Further to this, I find a bit of shuddering when braking. I have replaced the front disks, but the problem is there. It seems less...but still there. I want to say that the next step is to replace the wheel bearing, but I don't want to change it if it's not necessary.
Don't know if these two problem is related?

1st check you earth strap,
the one from the battery to the body. They corrode and also cause these problems some times.

Re: Speedo drops, ABS, Powersteering and management light fl
You have a wiring problem. Check the wiring to the wheel speed sensors under the car. It's probably chafed through somewhere

Caddyon had the same issue, turned out to be bad wheel bearing housing. Had to replace the whole thing I think.

Yeah that is exactly what happened to mine.sean919 wrote:Caddyon had the same issue, turned out to be bad wheel bearing housing. Had to replace the whole thing I think.

Bearing housing was worn causing trouble between the speed sensor and the bearing.
What was your solution ?

I don't have a solution yet. Took it in for a check today. Tell me, what did it end up costing you? I am bloody fed up with the issue. Did your powersteering also give issues?

No actual powersteering issue. But the powersteering light was on.ssbarnard wrote:I don't have a solution yet. Took it in for a check today. Tell me, what did it end up costing you? I am bloody fed up with the issue. Did your powersteering also give issues?
All because of facking bearing housing. I will have to pull out the receipt to double check cost.

Re: Speedo drops, ABS, Powersteering and management light fl
It is usually the front left housing...being the wheel that picks up all the **** from left hand side of the road.ssbarnard wrote:Thanks bud. the problem is that they cant determine which bearing housing it is. Its a bit frustrating
it might just be the bearing. Diagnostics should tell you which speed sensor isn't picking up the bearing.

First thing I would look at is the earth cable, give it a clean and make sure it is making proper contact.

Re: Speedo drops, ABS, Powersteering and management light flashs
Hi guys I that most people are saying its the wheel bearing, I am experiencing the same problem on my vw polo 2014 model.
•Speed meter is always on zero
•Odometer km reading stopped working
•Abs light is always on.
•Power steering light went on and off just once
•When I turn corners my fuel gauge goes down n up again all the time
Can all this happen because of the bearing being lose on one of the wheels?

Check your battery. TDIs like to act funny when the battery is low.

Re: Speedo drops, ABS, Powersteering and management light flashs
Having the same issue with a 1.4 polo, 2014 model. I diagnosed it only to find that the two speed sensors are faulty. Going to change them and will come back and tell you if it worked.Masetisiyabonga wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 3:32 pm Hi guys I that most people are saying its the wheel bearing, I am experiencing the same problem on my vw polo 2014 model.
