Polo TDi Central locking issue

Post by mikey6 »

Hi,

I have a 2007 Polo TDi and recently the passenger door locks and then unlocks when i go over 20 km/h, i have to lock it like 3 times before it stay locked, sometimes when i stop at robots for example, and go over 20km/h it unlocks randomly.

But when i lock the car with the keys it locks properly, so the central locking is working properly just when i drive it unlocks by itself

has anyone else had these issues with their Polo?

Have you maybe tampered with your bourdnets control recently ?? I found similar issues after working on the bourdnets. Ps its the box above your pedals where all the wiring comes together

Mine does the same, It locks and unlocks fine with the key, But when you open the passenger door the interior light goes on and off immediately.
The car also locks itself again after 30 sec if you don't open the other door or boot.

I was told its the door lock that needs to be replaced. I was hoping it would be an easy fix

If everyone is having the issue I cant believe there is no recall.

What happens if you get robbed or hijacked because you were unaware that one of your doors werent locked standing at a robot.

Wonder what vw would say about it if you hit them with a lawsuit.

My ibiza does the same but im nearly sure it uses the same door lock as the polos suffering from the same problem

I have this on the driver door.
Read somewhere where they just open it up, fiddled a bit and it worked again.

Since I got my car back after bumping my driver side door, I also have issues with the locking. My car locks itself (like G-spots car) after 30 secs if I unlock it and don't open another door, even if the driver door is wide open. Also, if I stop my car and open the drivers door while the engine is still running, the interior lights don't always come on.
ETA: I was almost sure this was panelbeater related but it didn't start immediately after I got the car back. After reading this I think it might be part of the normal faults everyone else is having.

Mine locks and unlocks fine, Its just the interior light and alarm issue that bugs me. Because thats the door I use when I strap the little one in, And midway through the whole strapping in process the car locks itself and the alarm goes off.

Same issue here - i have a few threads on this. In winter locks were 100% - In summer the kak starts. Easiest way to tell is to open the door that has the issue when the key is turned in the ignition - The door open light will not be displayed.
To strip the door is a biatch! Door panel needs to be stripped - then the metal sheet cover under that needs to be drilled out. The door glass might also need to come out to get to the lock. the good news is the microswitch is just a part of the lock
and costs like R20 from an electronics store. VW do a full lock replacement on the door - 3-4k!!!!!!!

Mine I suspect is kak wiring to the door from the interior because you can open the door open icon on the cluster comes on and then flickers a bit - almost as if it has a duff connection.

Maybe we should talk to Morne about approaching VW about a recall! There's over 10 of us here already with this issue - Wonder if we could get them to fix it. They know about this issue since the mk4 Golf. Why didn't they just leave a little rubber grommet switch that picks up if the door is open or not ffs!

Mines just locks and then unlocks itself when I drive over 20kmph.
Then does the same every time I stop and go from 0 - 20kmph again.

I think we should maybe pursue a recall with VW - I'm not going to spend 4k to get a new lock. Maybe they can get a cheaper alternative - just replacing the switch or the shitty wiring?
