Where is a TDI's oil filter

Post by slumiesboi »

Hi guyzzzzz

I've done a search but couldn't find any info.

I want to change the oil on my polo TDI and I can't seem to see where the oil filter sits..

Can anyone please help me with this?

I seem to remember my PD130 was in a casing, so you replaced the insert. The Polo Sportline gents will know better though...

Yes that is correct !! it has a big black cap that you would need to unscrew. I think the size is 27 or 37 IIRC

Why??

It is either a 32 or a 36. On my Polo (96kw) it is definitely a 32. On my moms Polo (74kw) it is definitely a 36.

Rather easy to take off if you have the proper tools. When putting it back on, do not tighten more than 25Nm!!

My Jetta doesn't have that big nut over which you cat put a socket. Instead I have to use my hands to loosen the cap. It shouldn't be so tight that you can't loosen it by hand.

Don't know about the mk4 but on the Polo the 25Nm is written on the cap.

the 96kw polos are 32mm socket its really easy to take off.
and when tightening you do not have to have a touque bar.
just make sure its tight enough and you but some new oil in the new seal so it can seat nicely.

Careful not to over tighten as you will break the plastic housing.
