Mods for sportline

Post by LYFGP0 »

What mods would you guys recommend for a Sportline 1.9TDI? I'm talking of just like small mods and kind of affordable, not bigger turbo's etc.
First thing i was looking at is an FMIC? Would that be considered a mod and would it make any difference?

Opinions welcome.

P.S I'm trying to find out as much as i can about the TDI's as I will be getting one Sportline TDI soon, soon i'll be hogging the TDI section :troll: .

Hi and welcome to the smokey side of life. Use the search function there are numerous threads on this topic. You could also look through mine or most other sportline threads as we have all done very similar if not the same mods.

What's WMI?

I forgot about the Mufflerectomy. lol

1. Performance filter.
2. Mufflerectomy
3. FMIC

Whats the pro's and cons of doing a mufflerectomy? I can go to any exhaust place right?

Software, that is the best KW/R you will ever spend.
Then maybe Decat to keep EGT's down.

WMI is short for water methanol injection. More known on petrol cars , but it has proven to work on diesels. That is for when even FMIC is not enough to keep temps down

Software, software and software. Maybe a FMIC.

Decat is great to keep the temps behind the turbo from building up.

EGR delete
DP
These 2 don't really give performance

Is this only for performance, if not then...

Lowering springs
Slotted/drilled discs
Replace all engine mounts

Exhaust Gas Regulation - it takes exhaust gasses and put them back into the intake. Helps to bring temps um quicker but then I believe it keepa intake temps higher than needed. A blockoff is 2 plates that you screw on each side ( exhaust side and intake side ) to block it off. EGR delete takes out the whole flap, some believe you get better flow , I strongly doubt it. You then replace that with a race pipe. I would say blockoff is more than enough of you want a stock looking bay

Not entirely, Exhaust Gas Recirculation, and its main use is for emissions control although it is used for initial start up on TDi's. Once the engine is up to temperature though it is only used at partial throttle anyway but it does get clogged since there is no fuel running past it to clear it of soot. I would just blank it off, simpler than deleting it...

If you are on a budget atm - I would do a decat and software. My car has only mild Vitamin D without any hardware mods at all - no DP, no Pd160 intake, no mufflerectomy, no decat nuddddda!
Some guys with quite a bit of mileage start getting clutch slip after loading software.
