Jetta 4 TDI, Generally sluggish

Post by Rubbin&dubbin »

hi Guys

A colleague of mine has a Jetta 4 TDI, and he says the car is sluggish and consumption has gone through the roof.
also feels like its not boosting.

the errors he got when he took the car for a scan at a Bosch Centre were the Following:

462D - Boost pressure control above limit
4490 - Air mass meter open Circuit/earth short
4c69 - Solenoid valve, intake manifold control flap open circuit/earth short.

Any ideas on where he can start to find out what the problem is?

462D - Boost pressure control above limit
-dunno
4490 - Air mass meter open Circuit/earth short
- make sure MAF is plugged in correctly and see if dirty, a clean never hurt.
4c69 - Solenoid valve, intake manifold control flap open circuit/earth short.
- this is usually a leak, vacume leak

4490 - Air mass meter open Circuit/earth short - I had this error on my car about a year ago, and my MAF was blown. I replaced it and the problem went away. Then about a month ago, I got a CEL and had the car scanned and got the error again. Cleared the errors, and it returned again. Then randomly before dyno day and touch wood, it hasn't come on since... As Yakuza said, try give it a clean

As said above, check if they are plugged in. Great possibilty that the MAF is blown.

Rather buy a good quality part that will last then buying a cheap part that won't last.
