Ideal otto assumes you are not knock limited like most turbo motors are.
The main benefit of cooler air is to get to minimum best timing under fuul boost. this lets you get peak cylinder pressure at i think 12 degrees after tdc. that allows you to extract the most work from the gas and thus the lowest possible egts.

I think Impi's explanation makes a lot of sense. He also said that this is not as noticeable as on older cars and also said that he was talking in extremes.

If you are fair and just consider what the man is trying to explain, you will see that it makes sense.

Now come, flame me... :tosser:

Colder air is denser than hot air. So the cooler the air you can put into the motor the more fuel you can burn. Any gain in hp always comes from 1 place only and that is the ability to burn more fuel. So once you have colder air you will be able to add fuel which will bring the egt's right back up. The only time you will have a drop in egt is if you now don't add the fuel that you are able to and if you don't do that what is the point of putting in a bigger cooler. Clever modern managements will add the fuel and the timing to make the most of cooler air thus the egt's won't drop. There is of course such a thing as putting a too big intercooler in so if you have a certain size cooler and x- intake temp and you install a bigger cooler and intake temp stays the same then there in no gain in the bigger cooler. From that point you are farming backwards.

Stephan, wouldnt that only be the case if your motor was running at stoich?
If it is rich under boost, and it should be, then the colder air will lean out the mix and raise egt. Assuming that you or the ecu did not compensate.
In this case more fuel will then lower egts, right?

Well, I'd start off by introducing myself in the introduce yourself thread, where we'd tell you to fill in the location field in your profile, so that people will know where to send you, then please also state your mode of transport, or give more details as the field in mechanics are wide, and modes of transport even more so. Other than that, welcome and enjoy your stay. And beware of whose thread you hijack, some people don't like it. :hi:

check here mr tdibobshell.... dont you rather want to start your own thread somewhere else??

My new cooler is in the mail, and all that know the tiny IC the scoob has, so by getting a much larger FMIC i can effectively up the boost more and fuel more to make more ponies, but as said this can only be done with after market management.... so first fit and then tune?

low boost is .08-.09 , high boost is 1.2....
