Weird.

Mine did that, was a boost pipe that popped off. But it looked like night time behind me there was soo much soot.

Just tightened host clamp and all was well.

But with no extra smoke, it's weird what it could be

How many KM on the car?
Have you done any work to it recently?

A popped off boost hose would make the car jerk badly and smoke like a putco bus, also fuel consumption would be terrible and it would hiss like a cobra underneath the bonnet.

Have a look at your MAF and MAP sensors, start with the cheap and easy and work your way up to the turbo.

no work done onto the car, its stock as can be, i did a scn on vagcom.. showed overboost error.. so i erased all dtc's and drove the car.

i fel tt there was sum boost but the car not pulling like how she does, and can hear like a hissing sound that never used to be there before, so im guessing a boost leak sumwhere along the line.

car has 115000kms

Check the turbo outlet boostpipe leading into the cooler, your issue should be there. What happened is a pipe probably popped off or has a tear and the turbo had to work harder to match requested, that sent it into a soft limp.

Overboost error is probably not a boost leak. More likely the VNT vanes are stuck, or the actuator is broken or disconnected.

First guesses would be the VNT system on the turbo or the vacuum actuator that adjusts the VNT system, either of them not working 100% and you will have boost pressure issues...

It is always best to start with the cheap and easy, like jacking the car up and checking from the point of discharge on the turbo to the point of inlet on the cooler for tears and excess oils, if none are there the move on to the point of egress on the cooler to the point of ingress on the motor, if no visible signs of leakage is visible move on to the map sensor which picks up boost, clean it along with the maf. If the issue persists then you have a turbo issue most probably, the garrett turbo's on these aren't too problematic but they have veins on them which become sticky with age as has been said , which may cause the car to boost a lot or nothing.

The vains are easy to check. Jack car up start car.look at the arm on the vacume unit that it sits on its stop.Pull vacume hose off the unit arm must move smooth all the way to its top end position.Tis can be checked by pushing it up with a screw driver.Connect nose and see if it vacumes to its stop again.

Hi all. I have a similar issue. No boost. Was advise to see if the car revs to 5100rpm. It dosent. Disconnected the maf sensor still only revs to 3000rpms. Don't know what I'm doing. Also pipe leading to turbo driver side looked like a blocked vacume pipe sucking itself in when I Rev. Is there a vw guy in dbn north Phoenix or verulam that I can go to without getting ripped of. I just got this car..

Who told you to rev the car that high to check boost my word. If no one offers help go through the vcds register thread and hunt for a person in your area. Get the car scanned. On your side make sure vacuum lines have no cracks. Then go through each boost pipe and look for any Splits also check the rubber seals around the pipe. Any one of those can cause a no boost situation. We all no what happens when we don’t have boost.
