Temp issue with cooler weather.

Post by boer »

Howzit guys..... Seams like the Polo is at that stage of its life where things are gonna need to be replaced or double checked.

Now with the cooler weather coming the TDi always seam to never get to 90' degrees quickly, in town it gets there but on the high way it will sometimes drop to just above the quarter mark. In summer it stays at 90 no matter where I drive. Now I think it could be the thermostat but I had my thermostat fail in my previous polo and the temps would drop very low on the highway.
So do you guys think it could be the thermostat or may be just the temperature sensor?

Thanks

Ok so that bring me to the next dreaded question....

How do i go about fixing it.... I consider my self quite good with tools.... or should I rather let a mech do it?

I also have the same problem, doesn't always get up to operating temperature. Could it not also be a blocked EGR, Sinbad? As I know after an EGR delete, these cars also take a while to warm up? Although I guess that means that once it's at temperature, it will stay there, but will just take longer to get there after the delete...

EGR delete should only effect the time it takes but it should still get to operating temperature...

He says it drops on the highway. I doubt that's an EGR issue...?
