tdi issues

Post by golf5 tdi »

Hi guys.
I need some advise, I have a 2006 golf5 1.9 tdi & recently the car's making a knocking sound on the gearbox side but when the clutch is pressed down the noise goes away. I've taken the car to vw,they say I need to change clutch n pressure plate, release bearing n flywheel. The thing is that the car runs smooth with no abnormalitys on the clutch or gears....

VW are right, Rather do it all now but go to an independant workshop with a good reputation with VW's

Dealer prices are insane! How many Km's are you on?

Its sounds like you will need a new Clutch kit. I know GW Delery sell them and they give us from the forum a better price too. I had mine fit by Morne is forum name is G60 Golf

It's kind of premature to give up so soon but not uncommon, the conditions of driving differ from person to person but the TDI's do take a lot of strain due to the high torque.

Do what Dougi says, It's the cheapest and best route.

Did this on mine 20 000km ago, do you have a warranty on the vehicle?

I managed to get the Flywheel changes as part of warranty and then just purchased the clutch and had them install it.

It was a three week fight but all in all cost me about R2000.

If no warranty buy the kit from goldwagen and get an independent person to install.

Vw prices are mad
