2005 Golf 5 2.0Tdi comfortline

Post by DP »

Howzit guys
Need some advice, got a chance to buy the above mentioned car, it has 160 000km on the clock
What's a fair price for one, its in very good condition

How's the lifespan of the turbo?
Is there any things I should look for to avoid a bad purchase

Your inputs will be greatly appreciated
Thanx

I have a 2006/7 2.0 TDI with 155000km on the clock and everything is still good.

Check that cambelt was done.

Early models also liked to crack their heads and some people have issues with injectors and injector looms.

Great cars...The 04 models I beleive you need to stay away from due to various issues amongst other the head issues etc.

Set aside some money in the event that the turbo decides to give up...Not to say that it will but its a TDI man the turbo will fail at some point.

I dont think its a bad price. Maybe try push down to 75 or so. If it has a full service history and has been taken care of there's no reason why it shouldn't be reliable.
It has the same turbo as the cupra so anywhere between 8 and up for a new turbo. But they can be rebuilt for much less depending on how it blew.

Clutches are also quite expensive. Parts alone are 7grand and that's from Goldwagen. While test driving give it foot from low rev's (under 2000) in 4th gear. if there's no slippage you will be fine in the clutch department.
