1.4TDI Boost issues

Post by andavaka »

Hi Guys,

I have 2003 Polo Classic 1.4TDI (Engine code AMF) i got this car in March with 112 000km on the clock.

The issue is, when driving and you get to a hill while in 5th gear, it loose boost. Which means i have to shut down the engine, restart and proceed. But if i get to a hill and change down to 4th it maintains boost. I have cleared all errors 3times already but it appears this still happens.

SO what were the errors you cleared? They could be significant.

I had a similar problem on my 1.4. When u in a high gear and stressing the motor from a low rpm it goes into limp mode and if you keep it in higher rpm its fine.
After taking it in to vw, it was just a boost pipe with a crack in it.

Ok deal with the 1.4 at higher milage they come up with boost errors at low rpm.
They have wastegate trubos not vnt units.Spool speed drops as the engine gets older.
VW say replace engine.

So if the car has no boost leaks or turbo problems and all is fine then get the mapping done.

With my research I have come across a guy, who made his own leak tester.
He connects the pipe at the air filter with some plumbing to his compressor, then listen for leaks. It has to be absolutely quite.
