Goodday
I have recently bought a 2010 Vw Tena city 1.4i fuel injection, and I have been experiencing an issue.
When the car is idling warm and the fan kicks in the revs sometimes drop very down almost to a point where it’s going to switch off , I have also noticed this problem when engaging clutch and slowing down , the revs drop below 1000rpm and thn shoot up abit and thn drop again and it shudders like it’s almost about to cut out, and sometimes the battery light would light up but as soon as I press the accelerator the light switches off, also it sometimes even cuts out completely and I just start it again. No hard start whatsoever, the idle is not perfect slightly jumpy between 900rpm and 1000rpm unless it’s drops when the fan comes on and it only does this sometimes not every single time , same when I engage clutch to slow down it will only do this sometimes, I have been advised to start with throttle body cleaning and running a diagnostic, I’ve also been advised to check fuel lines and relays fuel pump and also coil for some odd reason, not sure if it can be the map sensor as well, any advice would be much appreciated thanks.

Also check end float on the crank.
Do this by pushing the crank pulley toward the engine using a long bar or plank etc, open the green plug on the bell housing to push the flywheel the opposite direction.
The spec is about 0.2mm, in plain words, almost nothing. If there is perceptible movement of the crank horizontally inside the engine, it means that the thrust washers or even the crank is worn. This is a bad thing as the engine would need a rebuild with the affected parts replaced.
Hopefully yours is fine and then a clean throttle and a new temp sensor sorts the car out.

How would end float cause instability in idle speed?
It sounds from the OP as though the idle speed is not being controlled very well, and I'm trying to figure out how end float could cause this. (Not trying to be difficult, just not seeing the connection.)

It's basically because he stated that the idle speed drops when the clutch is pressed.VAG Fan wrote:How would end float cause instability in idle speed?

The crank gets pushed away from the gearbox and is moves out of position. You find the flywheel is rubbing against the block, amongst other things. The additional friction will artificially load the engine and affect the idle speed.
Maybe I'm wrong and it turns out he just has a bunch of air leaks. We say this often, it's hard to determine the cause of a fault through a phone or a PC.

Re: Problem with my 2010 Vw tenaciti 1.4i fuel injection
Hi all, I removed the throttle body and gave it a good clean, the problem seems to have went away, as the idle was perfect t last night for 20 mins, I still have to drive the vehicle as the seats are out for cleaning, but will let you know if it drives perfectly. Before I cleaned it I noticed that when the car would idle, occasionally when the fan comes on the revs would also drop low and start going abit crazy low, that doesn’t happen anymore, it seems to have been the throttle body, but will let you know, car has only 99 000kms so doubt it can be anything major, I will also use fuel cleaner to clean all the fuel lines, and once I drive it I will post an update, thanks. I also ran a diagnostic and the only error it gave was incorrect voltage supply. So yeah hopefully my problem is sorted

I also thought it might be the catylic converter that might be blocked , but will have that removed soon enough just for better performance and sound.
