Golf 7 R Insuranace

Post by Future-R »

Hi guys,

I am looking to get myself a Golf 7 R and was wondering how much the insurance would be (round about, I know it is all personalized)? I did a quote with one of the companies and was quoted close to R5 000. I live in a one of the most secure areas in Cape Town (subjective lol). I park in an a garage, automatic gates and all.

I love the car, but feel this insurance premium is a bit too much.

Thanks,

Future-R.

Mine is about R800pm which includes business use. Age and qualification also plays a role.

Thanks for the reply, Amstel. I am under 30 and single. Looks like I need to get married just to drive the R :bang:

I am under 30 and qualified. But damn the difference between R800 and R5 000. I am getting bent over here.

Wow R800 for a Golf R - could even get close to that with my Polo.

Paying R1600 on my Mk7 Gti. Had a write off last year, so that comes into play

And by the way, does the business use part increase or decrease the premium?

That sounds reasonable. Could always be lower though, if you know what I mean.

Increase, as risk increases because it means you use the car for work, thus spending more time on the road.

Now I am feeling even more violated! Thanks for your quick replies, Titleists.

Wow guys,

I am reading this article and realized that the Insurance companies are making a ton of money each month from the VW community,

R5k for insurance on a Golf R is crazy, means the car will end up costing you well over R10k each month, add your petrol spend and the car will cost you anything between R12k - R14k a month,

I must be the only poor guy in here then :bang:

R800 is bloody cheap  I was paying around R2.5k a few years back but my R is covered by my employer now under their group insurance scheme so I only pay fringe benefit tax.

Wow that is super cheap!
I just got a 2020 registered Golf 7 1.4 TSI with R-line kit and I pay R1 400pm.
I'm 41, and don't even use it for business use.

Perhaps we should all share insurance companies or brokers and try help one another out to get comparative quotes and better deals.

There's no way ANYONE should be paying R5000pm for insurance, its reasons like that so many people are uninsured.
