VW Velociti 1.4i *** 268 cam

Post by Ewert »

Hi everyone.
I have a stock 1.4i velociti and have the following upgrades in mind:
-*** 268 cam, lift set, vernier pulley with a rev kit.
-TNT viper 4-2-1 branches 50mm free flow.
-Detrumping air box(of course).
-And then i wanna fit a SMT8 version 4 perect power piggy back which brings me to my question :) ,is it necessary for me to get my car put on a
dyno after installing the piggy back to get it set up or will the horse power and torque gains be so little (from the dyno) that it would just be a waste of money.
And if not where are the best places to get my car dynoed in Cape Town?

Stay away from anything *** makes/sells. Contact Nellis on the forum, he will sort you out with a nice Estas cam and he will advise you on a unichip that runs with the mp9 system

Hi Ewert.

*** does not have a good reputation based on many's options and tests. (The cam profiles differ from spec on the same cam)
Contact Nellis on the forum especially since you are in capetown. (http://www.sportcam.co.za/index.html)
Seeing as you are in Capetown, a 272 cam is also on the table
See below tests using a 272 cam and unichip:
Image

-Rev kit is not necessary
-You will have to get it tuned

Hope this helps.

Ok i hope this photo works... first time uploading a pic
Ok so basically i started this topic and everyone told me to get an easta cam.Well this is where it gets interesting.I contacted Nellis at sportcams and he didnt have stock so i ordered i cam. After weeks of waiting the cam never cam and so i phoned him about once every week. Finally he told me he has a cam but its a 288 and they were gonna grind it doen to a 272 or something like that..I did not like the sound of this but went with the flow and he said he will contact me as soon as its ready. Now today is the day i installed my 272 *** cam, vernier pulley, unichip and had my car dyno tuned and geus what still waiting on that call from sportcams. So they lost a customer and gave themsevels a bad name. I think the picture speeks for itself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with *** cams.. i dont get why everyone is having a vanny wobble surrounding this topic... it produces great power.. hell even beter than some estas.. so basically if u are planning on upgrading your golfie dont be put off with all the negative talk about *** cams.. if its i stalled and tuned properly u will have no problems :troll:
