Hi guys hope someone can help I just got a Golf 3 Gti 2.0 8v as my new car now since 2 days ago the car starts to girk when she's hot I don't know why I think it mite be the ECU that gifs me problems so now I want to take out that **** and replace it with a 32/36 Weber so what do I need if I want to chanch from Fuelinjection to carburator I realy think its the ECU that corse my Mk3 to girk when hot. To me is a new car still I don't even have it for a week and she already gife me problems but I like the car she drives nice good handeling love the car but I don't know what's up with the girking.

Buy a new Bosch fuel pump. End of story.

Ps to change back to a carb is lots of hassle and would cost lots more than having your car repaired at a RMI workshop. Take it in, have the fuel pressure tested, confirm the fault and have the pump replaced.

Fuel pump parts and labour +/- R2500

Vs

Carb conversion
Weber carb R1500
Base plate for weber to fit VW manifold R800
Manifold R500
Accelerator cable for carb R100
Fuel tank for carb R500
Fuel tank cleaning R800
Rewiring and electrical work to remove the EFI system R3500
Air cleaner adaptor to fit carb custom made R1500
Labour for conversion R2500 at least.
Total +/-R12000

Thanks for the replay and advice I'm just not that smart when it comes to fuelinjection I'm geting kind of scared when I open the hood of my Mk3 and see all the wire's and plugs and thigs.

To change to carb will never ever cost that much but I would not do it as that is going backwards. Rather take the car to a reputable workshop and let them have a look.

You would be surprised what some people get charged and pay.

I can understand that but you could do a whole 2 L swap for that price

That's true, with Diktator and a dyno.

My point was to illustrate that the option of changing the car was not an economically viable option for her.

You and I are both capable in the mechanical sense and paying some rip off artist to convert a car would never feature once in the planning process and execution of the job. Sadly our unfortunate OP is not gifted with the same skill as ours, so that's why she asked for help.

Hopefully she already has a competent person in mind who will take the time to accurately diagnose the vehicle and do the proper repairs.

Thanks to all your reply's my old Mk2 was a 2.1 solid head with weber 32/36 and that car out preformed so manny car's not Turbo cars but Hilux 3.0D4D and Ranger 3.2 tdi were no match for my mk2. :bang: but now I don't have that mk2 any more. I miss it. Now I have a 1993 Mk3 Gti not fast its lazy but drives nice. Even though she girks when hot I must just fix that problem don't know how but I'll see to that take her in to some workshop. Thanks Guys :wink:
