Location Field

Post by EX-DOHCTOR »

Howdy guys,

Is there anyway that the location field can be made mandatory?

I see a few people looking for parts and because there is no locatin specified in the profile there is a few post exchange of trying to establish where they are in the country.

I think it might help if we know where the person is, that would make finding what they need faster.

Just an idea, not sure if the phpbb can do it or not.

The problem will be retrospective.

Going forward is easy as you can make it mandatory, but what about the previously registered users?

Maybe make it compulsory field to complete if you want to make any changes to your signature, avatar etc under user profile?

That would work, it is the same with signature and avatar limits, once a user tries to change something the new rule is enforced...

Not sure how these work :hi:

maybe meantdi idea of when someone wants to make a change in profile the compulsory location field will then not allow to save until it is filled in

Logging everyone out is easy.
Forcing everyone to update a location when they log in is not.

As of now, though, you need to fill one in when you register.

Perhaps make the location a drop down menu. I know that it will be near impossible to include every location, but web admin can then add exceptions on an ad hoc basis when they are encountered.
