How about a special discounted membership package for those of us who are unable to fully benefit from VW Club membership due to location, vehicle type, etc? Something along the lines of between free and zero Rands? You know... just a suggestion...

The way I see it, thats asking me to spend R16.67 a month to read one section of the forum. It just happens to be the only section I read. I hardly even go into other parts of this forum.MaX wrote:Its only R16.67 per month. You cant even rent a DVD for that price and this keeps you entertained much much longer.

You DO pay to use google - there's ads everywhere. Each one of those generates revenue.Kaveen wrote:The way I see it, thats asking me to spend R16.67 a month to read one section of the forum. Re: Off Topic reserved for members
You know what I mean.. I'm not paying Google directly. I'm not physically pulling out money and handing it to google. All I asked for was that one section of the forum. I feel that I don't utilise the benefits of the club/events/discounts etc to warrant a membership fee of R16.67 a month.Sinbad wrote:You DO pay to use google - there's ads everywhere. But hey. I respect the committees decision. There's not much we can say as non members anyway.

Doesn't the forum receive some type of revenue for each reply or each topic being visited?
So why reserve that section for members only when I'm sure the mejority are non- member...

Not at all Blade. There is no pay per hit advertising here.
The decision to move things to the way we are tying is not a financial one as so many seem to think. Its aimed at stopping needles forum fights and politics.

We had a thread on weight loss and gym supplements that was interesting and informative and a lot of mense were visiting and replying on that thread. So I guess that thread will die off cos the majority aren't members.
