280mm bolt on Brake upgrade kits for MK1 is here!!!
Hi we have landed our brake upgrade brackets.
The brackets have been designed in house and have been made on a CNC precision milling machine out of high grade aluminum.
We have been testing the bracket the hole of last year and are very happy with the performance.
The kit will upgrade your 237mm disc to a 280mm 4/100 pcd polo cup discs and you re-use your std golf caliper for this upgrade. The mk1 golf is light enough so they work fine. The nice thing with this upgrade is that you wont have a problem with the caliper rubbing the mag or rim because of the bigger offset compare to the vr6 brake upgrade. I have got 10 sets discs and bracket in stock. I do not carry large number of ebc pads, so if you option for some ebc pads we must just check stock.
NB: mag or min size must be 15" or larger
Polo cup discs R1282.00 per set
Brackets R920.00 per set (incl 8.8 HT bolts)
Brake pads: R207.00 ferodo
Installation R500.00
Price update 31/10/2016

Cant see the images from work - but do you have a 5/100 option? Also assuming that this would work on my VR6 wheel?
Available exclusively at your store?
Also - how does this differ from the Volkspares equivalent (quality)?

The disc you can buy from any GW, but the brackets is only available at this store . At this point of time we only do it in 4/100 pcd and the vr6 disc will not fit this setup sorry I will have look and see if there is a 5/100 disc that may fit and then come back to you.Life160 wrote:Cant see the images from work - but do you have a 5/100 option? Go and have a look at the Volkspares setup and then have a look at mine. You should be able to answer that question your self then

Why do you say this?
is there a risk of failure if the vehicle is heavier?
looks really good

I have the volkspares kit on my Caddy and it is a pain to find 15" wheels that clear the brakes.
The velo wheels clear as far as I am aware.
But the wheels I have liked so far just don't clear them.

There is no need to go with a bigger caliper. Meany ok's think with with bigger discs you need bigger calipers, but on a mk1 bigger discs works just fine with std calipers . Do not get me wrong . I wouldn't mind a set of 4 or 6 pod calipers but that just but it in another price league. If any one wonder how good this brake upgrade kit is . Just join us on the next track day or swing by the shop and i will take you for a demoNerville wrote:Viper wrote:*snip* The mk1 golf is light enough so they work fine. *snip*

Please keep me posted on what other disc you may have.
Alternatively - I have two options: drill these ones or buy 5/100 from Volkspares and buy the adapters from you.
The only issue is getting the 1st ones drilled. I dont have time to take it to Norbrake - considering I live in the Rivonia.

The 5 x 100 vr6 wont work because the offset will be different.
Not sure about other 5 x 100 discs.

You right the volkspares disc and adapters clears the velo rims...Gielie01 wrote:I have the volkspares kit on my Caddy and it is a pain to find 15" wheels that clear the brakes.

I think it all depends on the rims offset (et),i cant remember what were the rims i tried et but i know they were 7 and 7.5j in the front no issues....

Can I test/fit one of my rims on this setup before buying?
Are the brake pads used different to standard?

What would it cost if you had to get me a 4/100 disc drilled to 5/100?

Re: 280mm bolt on Brake upgrade kits for MK1 is here!!!
Ok i went throw all the discs we stock and the closest fit is a mk4 280mm disc bit the ofset is less so the caliper do not seat properly. I think the best solution is to get the 4/100 drilled to 5/100. I see if i can get a price for you and come back.

Hi, Ive got the standard size cross drilled ventilated discs on mine... Also aught them from goldwagen. Maybe thats a cheaper alternative if your mags dont fit...
Will take a pic today and post it. They do improve braking. they dont fade as fast and cools down much faster. maybe only a 10% increase in wear on the ATE pads.
ps. These are ATE discs.

Vr6 disc offset is different to the 280mm 4/100 disc. So problems with caliper rubbing the magNaku786 wrote:why not fit stock vr6 disc? its 5x100 288mmLife160 wrote:What would it cost if you had to get me a 4/100 disc drilled to 5/100?
