Sheild New DA

Post by Shivvy »

I see Sheild have launched a new DA. Looks very nice, seems to have a similar design to the Shinemate 6 inch DA. Anyone worked with it yet? Price on takealot is R4750 which is more than the Shinemate/Crazydetailer machnine and is creeping towards the likes of the Rupes. I still have my trusty old Sheild DAS6 so I am curious about this new one.

Saw it. Looks food. Has longer throw and soft start like some of the fancier machines

Looks like shield is trying to get themselves into the premium class detailing section with their prices lately on some products.

Don't think the brand allows for it though without some proper marketing campaign.

To most households/ consumers, Shield is the k@k that checkers sells.

Sure, all companies have their good products which are under rated, but IMO shield is not a premium product, and as such I won't pay premium prices for their products

R4750 is a bit steep hey, as mentioned above that isn't much cheaper than Rupes, I guess we'll have to try it out to tell exactly how close it is... although they may have priced themselves out of the market now.

So after a little research I have found the the shield is just a re branded DAS 6 Pro Plus. The DAS 6 Pro Plus sells for around $200 so the local price is already double. It seems as if its not a bad machine but it comes nowhere close to the Rupes and performs about the same as the shinemate. So I don't see the point in getting one then.

Shield has always been a re-branded DAS 6 machine...

As for them being a non-premium product, on the whole I'd agree but as Amstel mentioned, its not all of their products that are bad. Their clay is great and their vinyl and rubber cleaner is one of, if not the, best I have ever used.

Focus should be on how the product performs, not what the label says.

Having said that, I still see the long throw DA being sold by both Crazy Detailer and Auto-DNA as a better alternative.

From what I know its a normal 8mm throw with a 900W motor in a long throw chassis. If so, I imported the exact same thing last year for half the price. It has abit more power than the previous Shield and is smoother.
