My A4 - Detailed by GaVeN
So, after selling my beloved station wagon, I needed to get my "new" car to a standard where I am happy with.
Bought the car with a few defects regarding paintwork. I set about rectifying these, and adding a few small custom touches here and there.
With the end result, to give the car a fresh lease on life and have it protected for a while to come (Must stop buying cars now, this is #15)
The idea was paint & polish everything, correct the defects, apply nano/quartz coating & maintain.
1st off, wheels & tyres. This alone took me about 7 hours to complete.
After some bad news on my stock wheels, new mags & tyres had to be bought. New mags resprayed in a colour I'm happy with, and received Gyeon Prime coating
While the wheels were off, I decided to get in & clean properly. Steps followed:
- Arches given a HP rinse & APC scrub with brushes.
- All parts given a thorough scrub with APC & brush
- Gyeon Iron applied to brake components & rinsed agin
- Still not happy with years of neglect, I resorted to polishing soap and an aggressive sponge
- Everything given another once over with APC & HP rinse
- Topped off with a paste wax
Before, During & After:
With the arches sorted & wheels coated, I turned my attention to the engine bay. Steps followed:
- Fenders were removed to get painted
- Bonnet carpet, as well as top & bottom engine covers removed
- HP rinsed & APC diluted 5:1 sprayed on. Left to sit & agitated with a brush where I could reach
- HP rinsed again to remove all remaining soap
- Areas where caked on grease was left, I went at it with undiluted APC & agitated with a brush
- Everything HP rinsed again & blown dry with compressed air
- Engine covers & bonnet carpet given a diluted APC 5:1 wash & rinsed
- Areas behind fenders given a wax to protect
- Carpets & engine covers re-installed & dressed
Before:
After:
One area I did was a bit of overkill, but it is an area that bugs me. Makes the car look dirty when not done...Exhaust
- HP rinsed
- APC undiluted, agitated with some brushes
- Resorted to scotchbrite & polishing soap
- HP rinsed again & APC with brush to get last dirt off
- Polished up with Autosol metal polish and wax applied
Before:
After:
Onto the car's paint
- Given HP rinse
- Foamed with Gyeon foam & foam canon
- HP rinsed again & washed with Gyeon Bathe & 2 bucket
- HP rinsed again & dried
- Clayed with Shield fine clay & quick detailer
- Quick rinse and dried with MF towel & compressed air
- Went at it with Megs compound & orange pad, one pass proved perfect
- Black finishing pad & finishing polish took care of the last issues
- Rinsed down again, wiped with Gyeon prep
- Gyeon prime coating applied & wiped off. Left to cure for 24 hours & wiped over with Gyeon cure
Before:
After:
Will give her a wash today, and follow up with a good waxing. Will update

GaVeN wrote:Thought I would give a view into the cleaning side of the Gyeon coating I applied.
Gave the car a quick wash on Saturday afternoon.
HP rinsed it & took a pic of the water repelling capabilities of the coating, as well as the only real wow factor of said coating.
This is a pic of the rear bumper, with brake dust, road dirt & possibly some tyre dressing sling(Trying out a new product), where just with a HP rinse it cleans off most of the dirt...I'll let the pictures do the talking

Re: My A4 - Detailed by GaVeN
I washed the car in preparation for MCGS on Saturday, and found a few tar spots on the car.
Rinsed, foamed & washed, and with the coating on, the tar spots washed off pretty damn easy by just going over the spot 2-3 times with the wash mitt... The coating is starting to show its benefits slowly but surely.
