Maybe his Shield but he may be using it for jeweling or with smaller pads. At R2500 incl pads and polishes from CD its a DA bargain, I have one and it does everything as advertised and is bloody reliable with good local service support.

.... pads....

The one area all noobs fail at....

You simply cannot do any serious paint correction with 1 pad...

I would say that at a minimum you need

LSP x 1
Final polishing x 4 - 6
Cutting x 6 - 8 of course you can reduce this if you are prepared to stop and wash/dry pads mid detail

I haven't read the whole thread but I think this is a good idea. I follow a few UK detailers on IG and quite often see them selling partially used detailing supplies

Depends.... one man's nice is another man's ****....

For example, I cannot stand the look Megs Endurance Tire Gel gives, or the fact that it slings, but I know plenty people who really like that shiny look.

Nice

Are you planning on using them with the 3" Rupes pads, or with some other smaller pads?

My opinion is that a BP that is sized to fit 3" pads will not be ideal for use with 4" pads.

There will simply be too much 'over-hang' - in other words let's assume the BP is 2.5" to fit a 3" pad.... when used on a 4" pad it means that from the outer edge of the BP to the edge of the pad, there is 0.75" where the pad has no pressure being applied to it from the BP and will thus 'fold up' away from the paint surface as soon as you put any pressure onto the pad.

Effectively then your 4" pad becomes a 2.5" pad....

Ideally you want your BP to be slightly less in diameter than your pad (to provide a safety margin and prevent the BP from touching the paint) but not so much that you actually lose pad performance....

So a 3.5" BP for a 4" pad means you are only losing 0.25" in working diameter.

Can you post the link to yours?
Since Shield = Megs (lol) - it should be able to work on both?

Well you could do a decon, then use something like an AIO which will clean the paint, won't be the same result as a machine polish but it should make a good difference.

I'd recommend iron out, fine grade clay and lube and tripple
