Induction Kits

Post by RedFalcon »

Hi,

Can anyone explain what an induction kit is, and why so many people opt for this modification??

Thanks!

It simple terms:

It lets the engine breath better. (Most draw in cold air from outside the enginebay)

More/Cooler intake air causes the ECU (Computerbox) to inject/add more fuel into the engine, this increases power/torque output.

Most systems also give the car a roaring sound when accelerating hard (which can be irritating)

Its quite inexpensive, thats why so many people do it as their 1st mod.

Hi.
How difficult would it be to install an induction kit on a Golf 4 GTI?
I have seen the thread where the guy installs an induction pipe on a Polo and he had to make an extra hole in the stock air box. If I were to install it myself, how would I go about it on the G4 GTI?
Also, where in Pretoria or JHB can I get such a kit and how much would it be?
Thanks a lot

Keep your stock induction setup on your car. Your car has a Airflow-Meter which is very sensitive. It can get damaged quite easily by the oil which goes onto perfomance filter / induction kits. Trust me on this, i'm sitting with a dead Airfloe Meter as we speak.

Trust Justin - DON'T use a a "cheap" flat pad filter....or a cone! Just keep the setup as is and replace the stock filter with a BMC / K&N filter, will set you back around R500.

Thanks guys for the help. I was talking about a Samco induction pipe. I've heard people say not to put in a filter so I definitely will not do that. But a lot of the guys with the GTI's have this Samco induction pipe, which supposed to route the breathing of colder air. Am I talking kuk, cos I really dont know much when it comes to car mods

Cheers

I saw those Samco induction pipes. They work well but your filter gets dirty really quickly (What i've read on VW-Vortex Forum).
