Howzit guys. The battery on my golf 5 2.0 is always going down. The battery can't be at fault cause I changed it about a year back. The only thing I did recently was put a golf 6 gti MP3 player on the car but I'm not sure whether after that then the battery started going down. Any clue what's wrong guys?
TIA

Re: battery draining
The golf 6 radios will draw the battery if you dont code the car for it or have the correct gate way installed.Remove the radio and check it again.

Re: battery draining
You need to do the following.... I did this fix on my car and the battery is 100% fine. I also have a rcd310 the newer spec mp3 vw radio.
Used this technique to have a small harness made up to cope with the issue explained below...
"I have an easy not techinical solution for those of you that has a RNS510 unit and have the battery drain issue. So if you do not want to go through the hassle of finding a new canbus and recoding your canbus for your car try the method below. I have been using this method for over a year now with not problems at all."

Re: battery draining
Wouldn't be the tracking device. The golf 6 radios draw more power from the battery than mk5 ones would, even with the car switched off it draws power. You can either do this fix or buy a new CANbus unit from vw or a scrapyard and have it coded via vcds.

Golf 6 RNS510 unit battery drain issue fix
There's an even neater way IMHO.
It would be neater to open the fuse box and move the radio fuse terminal to a switched slot.
Just move the radio fuse - open the box, remove the wire/plug from where it is, to the switched area. Then plug the fuse in normally.
