Thank You Crazy Detailer

Post by leeban »

I ordered some goodies from CD to get my new (to me) ride in tip top shape. I have always been abit OCD when it comes to my paint and wanted to try a couple of different products instead of the usual Meguiars. All products used by hand.

I placed the order late on the 15th May and asked to pick the order up as I could not wait to give the car a good clean.

Thanks to Pravin I had my order on Friday night ready for a weekend of polishing, waxing and buffing.

Order consisted of:

1 x AUTOMAGIC Banana Magic (Under R100 Wax Kit) (AM73-KIT_2013)
1 x Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel (500ml) (OPT-1201)
1 x Autoglym - Hi-Tech Polish Applicator (11PA0001)
1 x AUTOGLYM - Super Resin Polish - 500ml (11SR0500)
1 x CrazyDetailer - MagicGrip Microfiber Applicator (2pcs) (CDUMF001)
2 x Redline Signature Series - Microfiber Polishing Towel (40x40cm) (CDUPW001)

My personal take on the products,

Autoglym SRP - The clarity this product brings is unbelievable. After 2 x coats, I was happy with the outcome. The Hi Tech Polish applicator made application of this very simple as well as giving enough control to easily work the SRP in properly.
Banana Magic - This is an excellent wax. Easy to apply and remove. The wet, gloss after 2 x coats made it all worthwhile. I had to stop myself from another another 2 or 3 coats.

I enjoyed the look of the paint after polishing and waxing so much that I used the SRP then Banana Magic on the wheels as well.

I didnt take any before or during pictures but will add after pics a little later.

Thank You Pravin and Crazy Detailer. Another happy customer ... for life.

Looks good bud - silver is always a tough color to really make pop and get good reflections off and get that wet look but you seem to have done well!

Thanks Lawrence. I must admit, these are the same products you recommended in another thread and thats what I went with.
Any tips from you would be appreciated as well.

Thanks for the feedback leeban

Unfortunately I was dealing with a bit of a crisis on Friday eve else I would have chatted for a bit longer. (Garage door panel broke off, and fell on bootlid of my car  )

Your car looks stunning. AutoGlym SRP and a nice wax is a very good combo. You have to use both for best results. This is where most people get the wrong impression. The key to the best shine is to clean first, then protect. SRP has great cleaning abilities but not very good endurance. Banana Magic has zero cleaning abilities but shines like crazy, and is easy on easy off.

The next time you wax, you don't need to go SRP and then wax, you can just go straight to wax as the paint is already clean. I would apply the SRP every 6 months and wax in between every month.

Djin,

Swak Man, Hope the garage door didnt cause too much damage.

I am using the last of the Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo that I had. What would you recommend to replace this. I was thinking of getting a wax stripping shampoo as well as one I can use weekly.

About Autoglym EGP. Can I use this before laying down wax or is it a last step product?

Thanks Again.

Thanks. Damage is quite bad unfortunately. Ding, paint chipped and couple of scrapes. :(

Gold class is a mild enough shampoo so that's a good base to start with. A decent replacement for GC is Maxisuds by ChemicalGuys. If you looking for a good wax striping shampoo then the CitrusWash and Gloss is a perfect shampoo for this. Normal dilution is about 10ml per 10L wash bucket. Just double the dose to 20ml and it will strip your wax safely.

For those reading this thread that have been waiting for Citrus Wash & Gloss, stock is expected by about mid next week !

AutoGlym Extra Gloss protection is a sealant, so you will apply it after applying the Super Resin Polish, and then lastly you can top up with the Banana Magic. Apply the EGP after you apply the Super Resin Polish. I'd say every 6 months. Top-up with Banana Magic, every 4-5 weeks.

Sorry Pravin, I feel your pain. Not a nice thing to happen especially after we try to take care of our cars as best as we can.

Thanks for the tips. Will place order soon for balance of items.
