Mk7 GTI REVO beta testing begins today :)

Post by Rabbit222 »

Hi guys,

Today we begin beta testing REVO software on the Mk7 GTI. The remap will be done via the OBDII port. For now, I can confirm that ODIS/TD1 is still an issue and is something that REVO are working on. Gains on stage1 REVO in the UK have been between 300 and 315hp on a MAHA dyno using 98ron fuel. We don't expect to see as high a number here due to our poor quality fuel and altitude. The map will be switchable like our Mk6 maps with P1 for 95oct /P2 for 98oct and P3 for 100oct. This means that your SPS will be fully functional in the Mk7 GTI.

Just to add, we have successfully port tuned the Mk7 Golf R as well. This will be beta tested at altitude like we are doing with the Mk7 GTI. Altitude testing for us is of utmost importance to ensure that our customers get the best they can for our conditions.

More details to follow...1pm SA time, it's playtime :)

Nice. RevoSA beta tests their products by speeding on public roads in the middle of the day.

See, now I'm a little confused because I've seen videos of stage 2 MK6 GTis running a lot further away from stock MK7 GTis. At least further than what I just saw in this video.

So now, with Some tuners *cough*APR*cough* claiming over 230kW at the crank with just software , and we know revo is usually stronger than APR, I'm not seeing a need for any MK6 owners to panic. That's just my observation and I understand this is beta testing. Congratulations on cracking the MK7 code. I look forward to seeing some monster Revo MK7's!

edit: This video detracts from the Revo brand. A lot. Stunts like these should be shunned, not promoted.

Our apologies if we offended any of you. A customer pulled into to the Performance centre and wanted to gauge the difference between a tuned Mk7 vs his stock one. We don't promote this type of behaviour, quite the contrary. The video was really just meant to show the difference between the two...nothing more, nothing less. I myself drive like a granny in my RS3 and that alone should say alot.

If you require that we remove the video or make the video private let me know and i will amend our privacy settings on youtube.

I'm personally not offended - in fact, I've been waiting ages for a video like this to pop up. These guys should have been a bit more considerate though - but that's their karma.

But - no one got hurt, and I'm too tired to be a moan-gat. There are thousands of non-roadworthy crap on our roads, killing hundreds of people a day. I don't think this run between 2 guys in their GTi's should make the 7 o'clock news.

We'd really appreciate it if you can post a video like this, maybe even between a stage 2 MK6 and a MK7 when the software is completely tested - obviously in a better environment ;)

Rather let someone else upload the vid, people will affiliate racing on public roads with Revo SA which will put you guys in a bad spot. People will give you ****, just because they can.

I've also been waiting on comments. Although I think the barrage of negative "stop racing on public roads" comments kinda put a damper on this thread.

The video Mooloo posted was quite indicative of expected performance levels. But, that wasn't in South Africa, and our climate and fuel quality plays a big role. I'm keen to see what performance improvements the MK7 GTi gets with BP95ron at JHB altitude.

I reckon that the outcome should be the same as our climate and fuel will have the same effect on both cars.
