Karting @ Idube 2015

Post by Mitch » Thu Feb 26, 2015 1:08 pm

Thanks to those that voted. At this stage it looks like we will be planning a shorter session similar to last year. Perhaps after a taste of the karts gents will be eager for another, longer session later in the year.

Provisional Date: Sunday 24 May 2015 See below
Expected Cost: R250-R350 per person (paid up club members will receive discount)

At this point we need to get a list going of who would like to attend. While this is happening, Comm will confirm details with Idube. If nothing has changed since last year, there is a maximum of 10 Karts available to hire. Depending on numbers, we will see how many karts we will hire, and the format of the racing.

Once we receive confirmation from Idube, I will update the cost. For now work on the range above.

For those not familiar with Idube, it is located about halfway between Durban and PMB.

I'll start a list below. Remember that the absolute maximum is 40 people, and all payments will need to be done a month before the event for us to book the venue.

UPDATE: Due to poor interest shown in the event, it has been postponed. Thread will be updated once new date is confirmed.

I'm tentatively in on this, only because I'm going racing in two weeks for my own birthday

The session won't be shorter than last year. It just wont be longer.

Once we finalise details, you could possibly opt to pay for 2 entries for yourself and double your kart time.

Come on gents.

If we don't have the numbers we will have to push this event back later in the year, which is not ideal, as we wanted to do the event again later. Its that much fun! :driving:

Gents. We need to make a decision at the next comm meeting in a week or 2. Unless this list fills up by then we will postpone this to the 2nd half of the year.

just some feedback:

I recently rented out 9 karts with a bunch of friends. This was an awesome day, you really will have a boatload of fun. We had the track to ourselves for 1 and a half hours, and we were broken, it is physically straining on your body to push at proper race pace.

If you've never done this before, you really should.

I will confirm my availability in about a week, I have to finalize a joburg trip.

Exactly my experience from last year. We also booked out 10 karts for an hour and a half. Each person had a total of about 20 minutes in the kart, and you are really exhausted after peddling the kart around the track.

But the adrenalin wins over the exhaustion. After your turn is over you just want to get back on the track.
