Completely disagree bud - if you drive the right lines and don't overdrive the car it is actually very easy on tires.... it is when people are locking up under braking / getting on the power too early / driving the wrong line and under-steering everywhere that it munches tires.

I did 2 track days on a set of Michellin street tires and they are still going strong.

And yes, there is limited run off into turn 1, the hairpin has a slip road and there is plenty grass for the last corner (admittedly with a few trees scattered around) BUT, as with any track day, ease into it, avoid the red mist and driving at 11 tenths and you should be ok.

If you enjoy driving, track days are really a sheeet load of fun :driving: :hurray:

How loud would the laughter be if I decided to throw my polo around? Also, how does it work with number of guys on track? Do you have to follow rules with passing, etc?

I don't think anyone would laugh...and even if they did...**** them...the day is about YOU having fun.

Besides I have checked a ballie in his c class banging laps (probably with his aircon on listening to radio 2000  and a bog standard vivo amongst others.

There are rules, which will be explained to you in drivers briefing on the day but basically it is no overtaking in the corners only on the straights....you get grouped in classes based on experience / car etc.

If you drive within your and your car's limits, it is the most fun you will have with your clothes on....try be a hero and you will probably see your arse

Just a heads up about tomorrow's Track Day, from the Lotus guys

"Good morning Michael
A few of us are meeting tomorrow at Npn Motors at 7am to depart 7:15 in convoy for Hesketh arrival at 8am. Please would you circulate this to the clubs. Its always safer travelling in convoy rather than as an individual.
Kind regards
Rob Mordaunt."

So if you guys wanna travel up, then head over to the Shell on St John's before 7

Was a lekka day, nice and sunny too. Cooking brakes and hot exhaust fumes :)

Does anyone know what is actually happening to this track. Is it getting scrapped or being further developed? Seeing the construction equipment there id like to think so... but being Durban this is highly unlikely.
